Every ad image size for 2026: Meta, Google, X, Twitch and Reddit
Three sizes cover most placements: 1080 × 1080 (square), 1080 × 1350 (4:5 vertical) and 1080 × 1920 (9:16 full screen). Add 1200 × 628 for Google and X landscape placements, and a handful of fixed banner sizes if you run Google display or Twitch. Here is every size, platform by platform.
The short list
| Size | Ratio | Where it's used |
|---|---|---|
| 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 | Meta feed, Reddit feed, X image ads (X recommends 1440 × 1800) |
| 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 | Meta square and carousel, Reddit, X, Google (as 1200 × 1200) |
| 1080 × 1920 | 9:16 | Meta Stories and Reels, Twitch mobile full screen, X vertical |
| 1200 × 628 | 1.91:1 | Google Performance Max and Demand Gen, X standalone ads, Meta link ads |
Design at the largest size first, keep your logo and message near the center, and export the rest from that master file.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
Meta runs one set of specs across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Audience Network. The same image can serve many placements, but each placement crops differently.
| Placement | Size | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Feed (recommended) | 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 |
| Feed, carousel, Marketplace | 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 |
| Stories and Reels | 1080 × 1920 | 9:16 |
| Link ads, right column | 1200 × 628 | 1.91:1 |
- File types and size: JPG or PNG, up to 30 MB.
- Stories and Reels safe zone: Meta's interface covers about the top 14%, the bottom 35% and 6% of each side of a 9:16 image. Keep text and logos out of those areas.
- Carousels: 2 to 10 cards, and every card should use the same aspect ratio. If they don't, Meta crops the rest to match the first.
Google Performance Max and Demand Gen
Performance Max and Demand Gen use responsive image assets. You upload several ratios and Google assembles ads for each placement across Search, Display, YouTube, Discover and Gmail.
| Asset | Recommended | Minimum | Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landscape image (required) | 1200 × 628 | 600 × 314 | 1.91:1 |
| Square image (required) | 1200 × 1200 | 300 × 300 | 1:1 |
| Portrait image (optional) | 960 × 1200 | 480 × 600 | 4:5 |
| Square logo | 1200 × 1200 | 128 × 128 | 1:1 |
| Landscape logo (optional) | 1200 × 300 | 512 × 128 | 4:1 |
- File types and size: JPG or PNG, up to 5 MB each, and up to 20 images per asset group.
- Cropping: Google may trim the edges to fit a placement. Keep key content inside the center 80% of the image.
- Portrait images are optional but unlock more mobile inventory on YouTube and Discover, so they're worth adding.
Google uploaded display banners
If you upload finished banners instead of responsive assets, these are the sizes that serve most often. Each file must be 150 KB or smaller, which usually means exporting as JPG at a lower quality.
| Name | Size |
|---|---|
| Medium rectangle | 300 × 250 |
| Large rectangle | 336 × 280 |
| Leaderboard | 728 × 90 |
| Half page | 300 × 600 |
| Large mobile banner | 320 × 100 |
| Mobile banner | 320 × 50 |
X (Twitter)
| Format | Size | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Standalone image ad (recommended) | 1200 × 1200 or 1200 × 628 | 1:1 or 1.91:1 |
| Image ad, vertical | 1440 × 1800 or 1080 × 1620 | 4:5 or 2:3 |
| Image ad, other supported | 1080 × 1080, 2064 × 1080, 1920 × 1080, 1080 × 1920 | 1:1, 1.91:1, 16:9, 9:16 |
| Carousel, website card, poll | 800 × 418 or 800 × 800 | 1.91:1 or 1:1 |
| Spotlight takeover | 1280 × 720 | 16:9 |
X accepts PNG and JPEG up to 5 MB, and doesn't accept BMP or TIFF. All cards in a carousel must share one ratio.
Twitch
Twitch ads are sold through Amazon Ads, and most units have strict file-size limits.
| Unit | Size | Max file size |
|---|---|---|
| Homepage Headliner, desktop left and right units | 450 × 350 each | 150 KB |
| Homepage Headliner, mobile full screen | 1080 × 1920 | 350 KB |
| Homepage Headliner, mobile banner | 640 × 100 (shown at 320 × 50) | 350 KB |
| Medium rectangle | 300 × 250 | 50 KB |
| Stream Display lower third, desktop | 728 × 90 | 50 KB |
| Stream Display skyscraper and Mirror-C | 160 × 600 | 50 KB |
| Stream Display lower third, mobile | 320 × 50 | 50 KB |
| Stream Display mid-feed, mobile | 1080 × 1920 | 50 KB |
- Headliner images must be JPG or PNG with no transparency. The center of the Headliner is a solid color you choose with a hex code.
- For Mirror-C, Twitch recommends keeping the top and bottom 84 pixels of the 160 × 600 creative one solid color so it wraps cleanly around the player.
| Ratio | Recommended size | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 4:5 | 1080 × 1350 | Most space in the mobile feed |
| 1:1 | 1080 × 1080 | Safest across placements |
| 4:3 | 1440 × 1080 | Cross-device promoted posts |
| 16:9 | 1920 × 1080 | Desktop-heavy communities |
Sources disagree on Reddit's image file limit, so keep images under 3 MB to be safe. Carousels take 2 to 6 cards, and all should share one ratio.
Tips that save a round of revisions
- Start from one large master. A 1920-pixel-wide original can be cropped to every size without looking soft.
- Set a focal point. The square and 9:16 crops cut very different parts of a landscape image. Decide what must stay in frame before exporting.
- Check file weight, not just dimensions. Google display and Twitch reject files over their KB limits even when the size is right.
- Recheck specs each quarter. Platforms change placements often. We update this page when they do.
